Rebecca Shelby

Rebecca Shelby began her studies at Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame in 1993. There she received a Bachelor of Arts degree summa cum laude in psychology in 1997.  Until mid-2000, Rebecca worked with Dr. Kathryn Taylor in the division of Cancer Control at Lombardi Cancer Center, Georgetown University. In August of 2000 she began her studies in clinical psychology at The Ohio State University. During graduate school she has pursued research interests in the topics of cancer-related traumatic stress and intervention efficacy and clinical opportunities with undergraduate students, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients, and gastric bypass patients.

Rebecca's research began with a first year project on the topic of cancer-related Posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms. She then completed her Master's thesis, entitled Validation of the PTSD Checklist- Civilian Version in Survivors of Breast Cancer. Currently, Rebecca is working on her Dissertation Proposal entitled Understanding the Effectiveness of Interventions for Cancer Patients: A Study of Patient Characteristics and Intervention Evaluations.
